Garr Ugalde is a sculptor who maintains an art studio in Clarksburg, CA in the Sacramento River Delta Region. He has been sculpting professionally for twenty-five years. His sculptures and artwork have been exhibited throughout California and nationally.
A native Nebraskan, Mr. Ugalde is an art graduate from San Jose State University in San Jose, CA. Over his career he has sculpted for the commercial industry but since the early 2000’s his focus has been on fine arts. Much of this work concentrated on figuration and social commentary. During this period he worked primarily in bronze casting and ceramics. Throughout his career he has explored many materials and is currently working with cementaceous compounds of his own formulation. He has been awarded public art commissions throughout the Sacramento region.
Currently he is in the process of beginning a new commission of 12 sculptures for the K Street Mall Project in Sacramento, CA. They will be abstracted figures meant to invoke relics of ancient Greece in a modern setting. These sculptures will be placed throughout K Street Mall.
